BIOGRAPHY

My background in music, opera and musical theatre is extensive.
I have a very famous singer in my family, Bass Nazzareno De Angelis is infact a relative of my grandmother.
At 9 years of age I began receiving classical tuition and soon I discovered this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
I studied a few years of piano and one year of cello then I completed my music Theory and Solfa for instrument players and composers grades at the Latina Conservatoire in Italy, equivalent to a Conservatoire Diploma in Uk and suited to professional musicians.
After this I was introduced to classes of opera singing where I studied at a very high level and and discovered it was really my main aspiration.
My years of study at Conservatoire level where very intense and exciting, I learned all aspects of vocal performance and as part of the classical training I learned to sing arias and then full roles as a principal. I participated to courses of specialization as an Opera singer and getting more inspiration that this was definitely my main area of interest I decided to go for more specialized training with soloists in a career.
I chose to deepen the Belcanto technique and in order to do so I studied a few years with renowned Baritone Paolo Silveri and Soprano Angelica Tuccari, both former soloists and stars of the opera world of the last century. I wanted to have a real taste of the technique taught in the last century where there is absolute control. I then went on to specialization courses of opera singing and stage performance at Arts` Academy in Rome and also attended workshops with top singers such as Mirella Freni and Antonietta Stella, always preferring an old style of technique.

A few years afterwards my voice matured into a Verdian Soprano voice, lirico spinto type.

I then went on to study with Baritone Sherman Lowe in Venice where I have achieved the best technique ever of high professional level., suitable to top opera theatres worldwide where power and stamina is required as well as control.
My first appeareance on stage as a solo, however , was much earlier than all this long course of study that I chose voluntarily: in fact, my debut as a solo was at the age of only 14 where I had my first recital as an opera Soprano at Accademia di Francia in Rome, singing some classical songs and some pieces from the Neapolitan tradition. Previously from the age of 9 I had achieved some stage experience singing various kind of music before starting to study classical music.
From my earliest years I started touring and working as a singer as a main activity in many kinds of situation and infact I believe that doing experience as much as possible on stage is a priority for those who wish to embark on a career in the future..
Sofar I have performed repertoire in as many as 37 roles as a solo., in many contrasting styles. My main area of expertise is Italian Opera.

In 1995 I started teaching and found it very appealing. I discovered I like to work on people`s voices and dig to find their talent, whether appearent or not.
During my early days of teaching I went on shadowing one of the most famous laryngologists of the world, Dr Ruoppolo of Rome, together we deepened knowledge on working over Operatic voices and solving various problems. This made me achieve  amazing skills about how to take care of voices ruined by wrong training. I even cured a soprano student who had been told that her damages were too serious to ever recover, both by doctors and previous teachers. She is now a very refined opera singer.

Although a good singer is not necessarily a good teacher I aim to be both. I love to work on people`s voices as well as continuing with my career.

You can have a sample of my skills and my technique by clicking here. You will notice great control, infact the belcanto technique combined with my most recent training gave me the ability of mastering my voice totally in many types of repertoire.

I am also specialized in training voices for the musical theatre following the SLS method, and alternating my opera training skills with this more modern style.

Currently I teach in London and I also have a studio in other parts of Southern England. Please ask for an information pack including detailed fees.
